A forum brings you fresh daily content for free

Members of your forum are tapping away at their keyboards conversing, writing articles, arguing, shooting the breeze, etc, producing thousands and thousands of words of content that will bring in other members and contribute to turning your forum into a valued online resource of information.
Business people often talk about the stickiness of a website because the amount of time a user spends at a site and the number of times they frequent it in a day are very important metrics. It’s all well and good to have a site that brings in thousands of viewers everyday, but it’s even better if when they visit and hang around for a while too. A forum requires active participation by the owner, especially early on.
Before starting a forum do your research. Don’t start something that already has a solid community forum unless you can niche your target audience enough that it is clearly different from any other established community.
Potential success of your forum rests in choosing the right niche. It must be a good sized niche, but not too big. Don’t try and compete with an already established forum niche. Most importantly, choose a niche that you just love to write about. If you get those things right your forum has a good chance of getting off the ground.
If you already have a web site a forum is a great place for you and your visitors to exchange tips ,
ideas and ask questions about a particular subject. You can have a classified category to sell your products and let others do the same.

Which forum software you choose is not too important. You are going to have to learn to use at least one, so choose the one that satisfies your criteria and then get playing. If the idea of installing forum software is daunting to you then I suggest you look at the installation services most forum businesses offer.
The number one concept to remember is that people bring in people. If visitors see topics and posts and discussions they are interested in they are more likely to contribute. Community Forums, chat rooms, bulletin boards and any form of membership service helps to keep visitors glued to your site. All these services take time to build up the appropriate critical mass of users. However once your community tools take off the value they provide is hard to beat.
Creating a forum that is all about sharing ideas and knowledge I’m trying to inject a fun vibe into the way it runs. Having assignments, games, introductions etc all seem to be attracting people in a way that is building community where people are starting to enjoy one another’s company. I know we’re in the honeymoon period on this and there’s sure to be some flame wars at some point  but I think at least in these early days we’ve managed to create a space that people want to keep coming back to.
